Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive
To address the growing amount of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) waste, the Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive 2012/19/EU was entered into force on August 13, 2012. This European Union (EU) legislation aims to prevent or reduce the negative environmental effects resulting from the generation and management of WEEE and from resource use. Its key purpose is to contribute to the sustainable production and consumption by the prevention of WEEE. It also focuses on re-use and recycling efforts of such waste.
